How We Did It: Block Paving Project In Wallington
To ensure the best results for our clients and a lasting driveway for their homes, this block paving driveway project was done in three phases. Working with S&D Paving ensures that support is provided at every stage of the process and our team is always on hand to help.
Phase 1: Excavation and Installation of Block Paving
The first phase of this block paving project was to get the site prepared for the new driveway. At S&D Paving, we handle all requirements and work from the initial stages of the project until the finishing touches are complete to ensure optimal results every time.
For this block paving driveway transformation, our team had to excavate an area deep enough for the new paving to be installed. We aimed for around 250-300mm in depth, which gave plenty of room for a solid installation of the Tobermore paving blocks and ensured that the slabs would not move over time.
Along with the installation of the new driveway slabs, we also replaced the old fence panels on the left side of the property to give the space a more cohesive appearance. The new block paving driveway was now enhanced with a brick wall, installed by our team on both sides of the driveway for a symmetrical appearance to the home.
A Note On Drainage
This block paving driveway project was not just about achieving a better appearance for our client, but also a more functional environment for their home. This is why during the installation process our team also installed a new drainage system with the block paving driveway.
This drainage system was installed across the front of the property in accordance with the Suitable Urban Drainage System guidelines (SUDs) to protect the roads from any runoff water, limiting the risk of flooding and standing water. This drainage system leads to a soakaway which is located five metres away from the home to reduce any potential damage to the property.
Phase 2: Side Passage Renovations
While the main portion of this project was focused on installing the block paving driveway, other areas of the property needed attention for a complete renovation. Following the installation of the new driveway and brick walls, the alleyway in between this property and the neighbouring home appeared even more worn.
To enhance the appeal of the whole property and create a cohesive appearance to the front of the home, we extended the new block paving down the side alley and into the back garden’s patio area.
Our client also requested that we remove a step and incorporate it into the new block paving driveway. At S&D Paving, no detail goes unnoticed and we will work to ensure that you are completely satisfied with the results we deliver.
Phase 3: Finishing Touches
The finishing touches for this project included the crafting of the Tobermore Podesta border which set the new block paving driveway beautifully and perfectly outlined the barriers of our client’s property.
As per the customer’s request, we also added a normal manhole and a recessed one to complete the driveway.
