A Look Inside Our Ongoing Residential Retirement Homes Project
Now that the new year is well underway, and the festive season feels far behind us, it is time to provide an update on our retirement homes project.
The team at S&D Paving are very proud to be working on this commercial project. With our expertise and quality workmanship, we were chosen to update the driveway and paving areas outside of this retirement home to create a more attractive environment for residents.
The retirement home is set to expand and include several new homes, but the site needed to be updated before this was possible. In November, our team began working on this retirement homes project and are now reaching the end of what has been an incredible few months of work.
Before the project is complete, and enough time has passed, it is time to update you on the progress and share the changes taking shape.
Progress Report: What You’ve Missed
Our last post regarding this retirement homes project was before the festive season. Fast forward to January and the S&D Paving team has made incredible progress.
The change to the space is obvious, as it is visibly taking shape for the new retirement home and residents. We have been working on both the front and rear of the property, with clear progress being seen in both.
At the front of the property, our gravel driveway installation provides more space at the front of the home for private parking. This is not just a practical addition to the retirement homes project, but an aesthetic choice too. The new gravel driveway is extended, opening up the front of the home and increasing curb appeal.
Foundations have been set for additional work at the front of the property, including a new retaining wall.
At the rear of the property, new timber fencing has been installed to provide privacy and secure the landscape from neighbouring properties. However, the biggest change to this part of the land is the removal of the old garage. This structure has been completely removed from the retirement homes project, leaving space for a new property to be added.
To aid this process, our team have installed a solid concrete foundation with drainage, which is ready for the new home to be built on top. There is also room for eight new homes to be added to the site later, as concrete foundations have been installed for both double and single units.
This, combined with the new fencing and future installation of an electric fence, is shaping up to be a safe, secure and beautiful retirement home site.
A Complete Renovation
While the site is still in progress for a few more weeks, our progress so far has been fantastic.
The S&D Paving team have truly made a difference to the site, creating a secure environment for retirement homes that are custom-built to fit the landscape. Each home will have a parking spot and will be protected by our solid timber fencing.
Electric gates are set to be added at the front of the property, to provide additional security to residents. For now, temporary fencing is still present on site to prevent unwanted access and ensure our team can work undisturbed.
Security is a main concern on projects like this, as we are dealing with people’s homes, which is why care has been used to install tall fencing, durable walls and the future electrical gate. However, this does not mean we have neglected aesthetics – we have integrated visual appeal and security to ensure a seamless blend of the two, as our client requested.
Precise Attention To Detail
To ensure that we achieve a blend of functionality and aesthetic appeal, each installation within this retirement homes project has been carefully prepared and managed by our team.

A careful balance has been struck between privacy and safety when laying the foundation for this new wall, as we have left space between the walls and the street to provide both retirement residents and the neighbours clear visibility.
This same attention to detail has been upheld across the project, from the gravel driveway to the timber fencing installation, ensuring complete satisfaction from our client.
Future Work And Project Completion
This project has been a labour of love for the team, taking us across the seasons and into a new year. We have a few more weeks left until the project is completed, and are currently laying the foundation for future installations.
The retaining wall has been laid out through a brick foundation. Likewise, while the majority of the fencing has been installed, some corner details remain uninstalled, as we wait for the delivery of the electric fence.
By waiting for new additions, we can ensure that our fence seamlessly integrates with the security system and creates a stable barrier around the retirement homes project.
Throughout the project, we have recycled waste and upheld ongoing site clearance. This not only ensures a safe working environment for our team but also makes it easier for us to see our progress and appreciate the work we have been doing.
